Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is stepping up actions to better protect our nation’s schools against gun violence, as well as other potential threats. DHS conducts training, exercises, and preparedness activities year-round to increase the security of schools across the country and the communities in which they are located.
The Department of Justice is taking immediate action to protect our schools, better enforce our gun laws, support law enforcement, strengthen the firearms background check system, and improve federal law enforcement’s response to tips.

Florida Governor Rick Scott has signed SB 7026, which makes significant reforms to make Florida schools safer, while keeping firearms out of the hands of mentally ill and dangerous individuals.
